This photo was taken on my morning walk to the pond with Indie. It was about 8:00. The sun was shining and it was, probably, in the high 40’s; May 12, 2013. I tried to be more specific in identification but am too unsure to nail a name on this insect. I can only say that it is a damselfly. According to wiki, Odonata is an order of carnivorous insects which encompasses damselflies (Zygoptera). This article was helpful in helping me to know the difference between a dragonfly and a damselfly. Both are considered to be indicator species for environmental health. They cannot thrive in an environment which has polluted water. I find it reassuring to see signs that StellaLou provides a healthy environment for these beautiful creatures!

(The house has a mini split system working hard in the meantime) . . We are so fortunate to have residents with such a variety of skills to learn from each other! . . #multigenerationalliving #communityliving #plumber #electrician #diy #radiantfloors #heating #homestead #makesomething #makesomethingeveryday #learnsomethingnew
